Update from Hunger Free Colorado’s Public Affairs Manager

It is with strong emotions that I announce that my last day at Hunger Free Colorado will be June 15. I am moving to New York City to begin work on my PhD in Economics at the New School for Social Research .

Working at Hunger Free Colorado, first as the Program Manager of the Colorado Campaign to End Childhood Hunger (now No Kid Hungry Colorado), then as Child Nutrition Program Manager, and most recently as Public Affairs and Development Manager, has been an extraordinary experience. I am enormously proud of all that Hunger Free Colorado has accomplished and am tremendously grateful for the opportunity to have worked for such an amazing organization since its early days. Thank you for all that you have contributed to Hunger Free Colorado’s work, and to my time here in Colorado.

While I am sad to leave this beautiful state which is the home to so many wonderful friends and colleagues, I am excited to fulfill my lifelong ambition of pursuing a doctorate degree and look forward to living closer to my family. My dream is to teach at the college level and to publish economics research that will help progressive advocacy efforts to strengthen social safety net programs in the United States and abroad.

My news comes in tandem with a job announcement for a new Director of Communications at Hunger Free Colorado. This exciting position will oversee all of HFC’s communications, advocacy, and community outreach efforts. Applications are being accepted through May 28th. Please help us find the perfect hire to lead this newly created department by sharing the  job description with your contacts.

For HFC related business after June 15th, please contact our Deputy Director, Lee Wheeler-Berliner, at lee@hungerfreecolorado.org.
